Michael Jackson Fan Appreciation Day

When I read that Michael Jackson would be making an appearance in Tokyo, on my day off no less, I knew I had to try to be there. The combination of Japan and Michael Jackson seemed irristable. Maybe I would be there to witness another infamous MJ moment a la "baby balcony dangle"? I imagined thousands of screaming fans, people in costumes, and badly worded signs like "Japan make love time, Michael Jackson hero yes!" The comparason between the national mindset of Japan and the twisted mindset of Michael Jackson is quite interesting, but I wont go into it here :-) I grabbed my camera and headed to a obsecure concert venue in the west part of Tokyo were he was due to appear.

I was shocked to find hardly a crowd at all. The only people there were those who'd paid $4000 for the chance to get inside the venue to meet him. There were a bunch of camera crews and photographers outside, loads of police, and little else. I did manage to snap a pic of someone dressed in an MJ costume, but that was it! Could it be that one of the most famous people on earth is finally, well, just not famous anymore?

$4000?! That's a big price to pay to celebrate "fan appreciation day." I'd be appreciative of my fans, too. :-)

You didn't catch any of the fan art competition? Anyway, "A" for effort!
